Green Power has taken another decisive step forward in its Zimbabwean solar programme, completing the consolidation of ownership and governance within the local project company. This milestone brings all core project rights and approvals under a unified structure, creating a clear pathway to delivery and long-term operation.

The project vehicle now holds the key components required for implementation, including a long-term government-approved land lease, generation licence, and a government project support framework providing sovereign backing for offtaker obligations. Technical studies have confirmed available grid capacity at the designated substation, and the Power Purchase Agreement with the national utility is in the process of being extended and updated through a formal amendment programme.

With these foundations in place, the development stands as one of Zimbabwe’s most advanced private-sector renewable energy projects. It is now progressing toward financial close in partnership with international funding institutions.

Once operational, the plant will generate close to 400 GWh of clean power each year, enough to supply around 225,000 homes and displace more than 340,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Beyond its climate impact, the project will stimulate local job creation, skills training, and infrastructure investment, reinforcing Zimbabwe’s transition toward a secure, low-carbon energy future.
